VROWN teams up with acclaimed Korean singer-songwriters JEHWI and Kim HeeWon on ‘Come Home Again’, the latest release from their collaborative project, LAZY ERA. Blending experimental pop with classical influences and electronic textures, the single explores themes of belonging, connection and the possibility of renewal.
The release forms part of Night on Earth, an interdisciplinary art project conceived by Seoul-based creative house HOLO and FUTURA SEOUL. Drawing inspiration from internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Es Devlin’s work Come Home Again, presented in her first solo exhibition in Korea, The Third Poem: Es Devlin, Come Home Again, the track extends the exhibition’s ideas into music.
LAZY ERA brings together three artists with distinct creative backgrounds. JEHWI is known for his songwriting and composition work on IU’s ‘Through the Night’, Jung Seung Hwan’s ‘The Snowman’ and SEVENTEEN Seungkwan’s ‘Dream Serenade’. He also contributed vocals to the soundtrack of the Korean drama My Mister.
Kim HeeWon has written music for prominent Korean artists, including IU, Park Jung Hyun and Jang Pil Soon, and performed ‘Friend’ for the soundtrack of Snowdrop, starring BLACKPINK’s JISOO. VROWN, meanwhile, introduced an experimental approach to his artistry with the release of the ‘Itsy Bitzy’ single series in July, establishing a bold musical identity that brings a fresh perspective to the collaboration.
The project also features improvisational musician and producer An Gwang Hyeon, who contributed to a Grammy-nominated recording. Together, the artists combine established songwriting experience with exploratory production, creating a sound that moves between emotional intimacy and unconventional musical structures.
On ‘Come Home Again’, Art Pop, Deconstructed Club and classical music converge to form an expansive soundscape. Piano, harp, live strings and classical-inspired samples provide a melodic foundation, while synthesizers, bass, drums, field recordings and ambient elements introduce contrasting textures.
Rather than following a familiar pop arrangement, the composition moves through shifting musical patterns, fragmented rhythms and manipulated vocals. Acoustic instruments meet electronic experimentation, allowing moments of warmth to coexist with more abstract sounds. The three vocalists move between individual performances and layered harmonies, reinforcing the song’s central idea of separate elements gradually coming together.
At its core, ‘Come Home Again’ presents home as more than a physical destination. It considers the process of bringing scattered memories, emotions and experiences together to create something meaningful. What begins with personal longing and the feeling of waiting gradually develops into a wider reflection on collective hope, renewal and humanity’s relationship with the planet.
The track also carries a forward-looking perspective. Against the uncertainty of the future, it holds on to the possibility of restoration and a new beginning, using sound to explore how connection can emerge from fragmentation.
This message aligns with the wider vision of Night on Earth, an ongoing artistic collaboration examining four interconnected themes: Human, Nature, Machine and Future. Through music, exhibitions, performances and conversations, the project explores the changing relationships between people, the natural world and technology, while considering what may lie ahead.
LAZY ERA’s ‘Come Home Again’ continues the series’ exploration of these ideas, following JEHWI’s ‘Echoes’, Lee Hee-moon’s ‘Hallucination’ and An Gwang Hyeon and Son Sung Jae’s ‘Dissolve Into Light’. This latest chapter focuses on the Future, using experimental pop and classical expression to consider the possibilities of renewal in an uncertain world.
For VROWN, the collaboration offers another opportunity to explore an unconventional musical direction alongside experienced artists from Korea’s creative scene. The single brings together different artistic perspectives within a project that moves beyond traditional genre boundaries.
With ‘Come Home Again’, LAZY ERA connects contemporary art, electronic experimentation and classical influences in a reflective musical experience. More than a song about returning, it invites listeners to consider what it means to rebuild connections, find a sense of belonging and imagine a future in which we can find our way home again.
