French-based Cameroonian artist Rose Black releases “NGEDA (Live Session)” on 2 October 2026, offering an intimate musical tribute to her late grandfather and the enduring bonds between generations.

Rose Black Drops “NGEDA (Live Session),” a deeply personal work exploring family heritage, spirituality, remembrance and ancestral connection. Sung in Bassa’a, her ancestral Cameroonian language, the song is dedicated to her late grandfather, Jean Henri Mahop, celebrating the lasting influence of loved ones and the legacy they leave behind.

Originally conceived as a prayer and an intimate letter to her grandfather, “NGEDA” transforms personal grief and cherished memories into a heartfelt musical expression.

The song reflects on resilience, spiritual connection and the importance of passing cultural values and family traditions from one generation to the next. Adding an especially intimate touch, the track opens with the real voice of Rose Black’s father, bringing a sense of lineage, blessing and continuity to the recording.

The accompanying live session further deepens the song’s emotional impact through an organic and cinematic visual presentation. Performing amid natural landscapes and surrounded by backing singers, Rose Black sings into a vintage microphone alongside a red Peugeot 404 convertible.

The imagery brings together elements of Cameroonian heritage, family history and contemporary artistic expression, creating a visual world that complements the song’s themes of memory and belonging.

Based in France, Rose Black continues to develop her artistic universe, Voix Noire, at the intersection of Bassa’a musical traditions, Afro-Soul, Neo-Soul, electronic sounds and organic textures. Her work explores the relationship between cultural identity and modern musical expression, drawing on personal experiences to tell stories that resonate beyond individual circumstances.

With “NGEDA (Live Session),” Rose Black turns a personal tribute into a universal reflection on remembrance, heritage and the power of intergenerational connection. The song serves as a reminder that the people who shape our lives continue to live through the stories, values, voices and traditions they pass down.

Rose Black is a France-based artist developing Voix Noire, a distinctive musical universe that blends Bassa’a heritage with Afro-Soul, Neo-Soul, electronic influences and organic sounds.
