Burd & Keyz return to the spotlight with “Miracles,” the lead single from Burd’s upcoming producer album, Burd’s Eye View, a project that brings together hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, gospel, and soul while reflecting a story built on friendship, perseverance, and loss.
Featuring Nigerian-Canadian artist TOBi, “Miracles” introduces the sound and spirit of the forthcoming album through themes of faith, hope, transformation and the determination to keep moving forward. More than simply a preview of the project, the single offers listeners an entry point into Burd’s personal story and the message behind the music.
The story of Burd & Keyz began in 2004, when Markham natives Andrew “Burd” Liburd and Anthony “Durty Keyz” James took their shared passion for making beats beyond the walls of their high school. What started as two friends experimenting with production eventually developed into a career that connected their sound with some of the biggest names in music.
Their production work reached artists including Machine Gun Kelly, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Ferg, Tory Lanez and French Montana, helping establish Burd & Keyz as a creative force whose influence travelled well beyond Toronto.
But the journey changed dramatically in 2010 when Keyz passed away at just 23. For Burd, the loss did not erase the vision they had built together. Instead, he continued carrying their shared musical ambition forward.
That commitment was reflected in the tribute project Keyz of Life, which honoured their friendship and creative partnership with contributions from artists including Kardinal Offishall, SonReal and PARTYNEXTDOOR.
Burd & Keyz’s work also earned major recognition along the way. They received gold record recognition for producing SonReal’s “Everywhere We Go,” while the song’s video went on to win MuchFACT Video of the Year at the MuchMusic Video Awards, now known as the iHeartRadio MMVAs.
Now, Burd’s Eye View brings the story closer to its source. Rather than remaining solely behind the credits, Burd uses the project to tell his own story through the music, drawing from years of persistence, personal loss and the passion that first brought two friends together.
That makes “Miracles” a fitting introduction. Its focus on perseverance, faith, hope, and transformation reflects the journey that sits behind the album, while TOBi’s contribution adds another voice to the record’s message.
The single also serves as the beginning of the campaign leading into the August 31 release, giving listeners an opportunity to discover Burd & Keyz’s story while building anticipation for the full project.
At its core, this is still a story about two friends who shared a love for making music. Keyz may no longer be here to continue the journey alongside Burd, but the vision they created together continues to shape what comes next.
