German singer-songwriter David Emde steps into a new chapter with “Jetzt,” a release that reflects a growing shift in his musical direction and his decision to embrace a more authentic and imperfect side of songwriting.
Until recently, Emde was not necessarily a familiar name on television screens or festival posters. His journey has included plenty of unexpected moments, including a 2023 Blind Audition that did not result in any of the coaches turning their chairs. A year later, however, he surprised audiences with German-language material while supporting Vanessa Mai at the Alzey Castle Courtyard during the 2024 DaCapo Open Air Festival.
Those experiences form part of a much bigger musical story. Before turning his attention toward German-language music, Emde spent more than five years working within the English-language dance music scene. During that period, he accumulated more than 50 million Spotify streams while earning press coverage, performing at shows, and receiving awards.
But despite having experience creating polished dance records designed to connect with large audiences, Emde has found himself increasingly interested in something different. His attention has shifted toward songs that do not attempt to appear flawless, instead embracing imperfections and the emotions that come with simply being human.
That idea is central to his music, particularly his debut German-language single “Kreise,” or “Circles.” The song explores the idea that perfection does not exist, whether in people, individual days, or life itself. Rather than treating mistakes as something to hide, Emde presents them as a natural part of moving forward.
His message is straightforward: people should feel comfortable being themselves instead of constantly trying to perform an image for others. It is an approach that reflects the more personal direction Emde is now exploring through his music.
The release also arrived at an important point in his career. “Kreise” was released shortly before Emde returned for his second Blind Audition on The Voice of Germany, adding another chapter to a journey that has already taken several unexpected turns. The track is also set to receive airplay on BigFM’s newcomer show, giving the emerging German-language project another platform to reach listeners.
Looking ahead, Emde is preparing to bring his new material to audiences during his 2026 tour. His scheduled stops include Wetzlar, Plopsaland Haßloch, and the Fête de la Musique in Hannover, where he is expected to perform a combination of familiar songs and previously unreleased material from his new album.
“Jetzt” arrives as part of this transition, capturing an artist who is no longer interested in simply recreating what worked before. With years of experience behind him, millions of streams already attached to his name, and a new body of German-language music taking shape, David Emde is moving forward on his own terms.
The result is an artist increasingly focused on honesty over perfection, using his latest chapter to remind listeners that sometimes the most meaningful direction is simply to be yourself and keep moving.
