Following the sonic direction of their previous release, “Black Company,” the duo revisit elements of their earlier work while pushing the atmosphere into darker and more cinematic territory. “The Return” builds its identity around cinematic drums, emotional choir textures and a driving counter-melody that steadily raises the intensity.
