Gabonese artist Vicky R makes a powerful return with “Fala,” the first single from his upcoming EP Latitude 0, featuring acclaimed Nigerian artist Oxlade.
“Fala” is an energetic anthem about grinding, hustling, overcoming obstacles, and turning struggles into victories. The title draws from Gabonese slang Tolibangando, where “Fala” represents the spirit of those who keep moving forward despite the challenges standing in their way.
At the heart of the song is the idea of the Fallaman.e visionary hustlers who refuse to stand still, choosing instead to build their future one step at a time.
“Fala” brings together Vicky R’s Gabonese urban influences and Oxlade’s distinctive Nigerian sound, creating a cross-border collaboration that blends West African Afrobeats with the vibrant energy of Gabon’s contemporary music scene. The result is a dynamic introduction to the sonic world Vicky R is building with Latitude 0.
The EP takes its name from the geographic coordinates 0°48’S 11°36’E, pointing to Gabon, the country that represents the origin of both Vicky R and the project.
Located along the equator, the coordinates serve as the conceptual anchor of Latitude 0. They represent a starting point, a place from which Vicky R’s musical journey expands outward toward Africa and its global diaspora.
Rather than simply serving as a geographic reference, Latitude 0 represents identity, roots, movement, and the idea of carrying where you come from into the wider world.
