Nigerian Afro-Pop singer-songwriter Jinmi Abduls has officially released his new six-track EP, Renaissance, marking a bold new chapter in his artistic journey. Arriving after the success of his recent singles “Sade” and “Hold You,” the project showcases an artist embracing growth while remaining true to the heartfelt storytelling that has become his signature.
Produced by acclaimed hitmakers Spax Classic (Tems, Show Dem Camp) and TUC (Olamide, Joeboy), with additional production from Jinmi Abduls himself, Renaissance blends Afrobeats with elements of R&B, soul, and pop to create his most versatile and refined body of work to date.
Across six tracks, the EP explores the many dimensions of love, intimacy, confidence, and human connection. While rooted in contemporary African sounds, Renaissance effortlessly shifts between reflective moments and vibrant, dance-ready records, highlighting Jinmi Abduls’ ability to craft music for every mood.
Opening with “Sade,” the project pays tribute to women whose love, support, and strength inspire those around them. “Ladder” injects infectious Afrobeats rhythms and memorable hooks, while “Scented Candles” leans into sleek pop production, capturing romance and desire through warm percussion and atmospheric melodies.
The upbeat “Enjoyment Amaka” embraces confidence, celebration, and carefree living with playful lyricism, before “Saro” raises the energy further through vibrant saxophone melodies and irresistible grooves. The EP closes with “Hold You,” a tender Afro-R&B ballad that explores reassurance, vulnerability, and the comfort of genuine companionship.
Speaking about the project, Jinmi Abduls describes Renaissance as more than an EP, calling it an artistic rebirth. “Renaissance for me is an era that represents an artistic rebirth. Not just with the music but with the other art forms I’ve carefully curated for the era. This project has been a long time coming and I’m confident it’s one of my finest works yet. Having Spax Classic direct the sonics on this project is really special to me; his experience really lifts the production.”
