Ghanaian singer-songwriter RCee has joined forces with rappers Oseikrom Sikanii and Kelvin Black on “Peng Ting,” a lively new single that blends Hiplife rhythms with melodic vocals and energetic rap performances.
Now available on major digital streaming platforms, the collaboration takes inspiration from the British slang expression “peng ting,” commonly used to describe someone considered physically attractive. The song turns the phrase into a playful celebration of beauty, attraction and admiration, giving the three artistes a shared theme to explore through their different musical styles.
RCee leads the record with his smooth vocals and melodic delivery, bringing a softer touch to the production. His performance provides the song’s melodic foundation, while Oseikrom Sikanii and Kelvin Black add their own character through rap verses that bring extra energy and contrast to the track.
The combination allows each artiste to contribute something distinct without losing the song’s central appeal. RCee’s tuneful approach balances the rappers’ more animated deliveries, creating a sound that moves between singing and rap while maintaining a lively Hiplife feel.
“Peng Ting” also draws on the genre’s ability to bring different musical influences together. By combining familiar Hiplife rhythms with contemporary sounds, the trio delivers a collaboration aimed at listeners who enjoy catchy hooks, playful themes and music suited to dancing and social gatherings.
The song’s subject matter keeps things light-hearted, focusing on the excitement of noticing someone attractive rather than attempting to tell a complicated story. That straightforward approach gives the record an accessible theme, while the involvement of three artistes adds variety to its delivery.
For RCee, the release provides an opportunity to showcase his melodic style alongside two rappers with contrasting approaches. Oseikrom Sikanii and Kelvin Black, meanwhile, help broaden the track’s sound, bringing additional personality to the collaboration.
As Ghana’s music scene continues to draw from Hiplife, Afrobeats and other contemporary influences, “Peng Ting” offers another example of artistes combining melody and rap to create a shared musical experience.
