Ghanaian musical duo DopeNation has signed a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing West Africa. The announcement was made on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Sony Music Publishing West Africa confirmed the partnership in an official statement. “We are delighted to welcome Ghanaian twin duo, @ghdopenation to the SMP family,” the statement said. “Known for their infectious blend of Hiplife, Hip Hop, and Afrobeats, DopeNation are versatile songwriters, artists, and producers who have developed a sound uniquely their own, GhanaPiano. With their energetic, genre-bending music and electrifying performances, the duo have captivated audiences across Africa and beyond, establishing themselves as an exciting force in Ghana’s music and entertainment scene. We’re proud to welcome DopeNation to the family.”
DopeNation is made up of identical twin brothers Michael Boafo, known as B2, and Tony Boafo, known as Twist. The pair, originally from Saltpond in Ghana’s Central Region, work as recording artists, songwriters, producers and performers.
They first built recognition as producers, contributing to tracks including Shatta Wale’s “Kpuu Kpaa,” Joey B’s “Wow” and “Sebgefia,” Ebony Reigns’ “Poison,” Eazzy’s “Forever,” and Pappy Kojo’s “Nana Ama.” Their production work has also extended to artists outside Ghana.
As performers, DopeNation released early singles such as “Bebia Ye Shi” in 2016 and “Uh Huh” in 2017. Their 2018 self-produced track “Eish” gained wider attention, followed by “Naami,” which featured Olamide and DJ Enimoney. That collaboration contributed to the duo receiving the Sound City MVP Group of the Year award for Africa.
