Colombian musician and songwriter Bryan Tapias, known for his decade-long work fronting the band Ciudad Cielo, officially launches his solo project under the name Basil with his debut single, “No Me Lo Creo.”
“No Me Lo Creo” marks the beginning of a new artistic chapter for Tapias, blending contemporary pop with alternative indie influences.
Built around honest, introspective lyrics inspired by personal experiences and faith, the track delivers an emotionally driven sound designed to create a direct connection with listeners.
The production combines detailed sonic arrangements with expressive vocals, establishing a distinctive alternative identity for Basil while showcasing Tapias’ evolution as a songwriter and performer.
Basil represents more than a traditional solo project. The project brings together a multidisciplinary collective of musicians and audiovisual creatives committed to developing each release through both music and visual storytelling.
Before launching Basil, Bryan Tapias spent more than a decade performing with Ciudad Cielo, taking the group to major stages across Colombia between 2006 and 2016. His return to the music scene introduces a renewed creative direction focused on creating experiences that extend beyond the sound itself.
“This project comes from the need to be transparent about what I feel and what I believe,” says Bryan Tapias. “With ‘No Me Lo Creo,’ we want to build a bridge between the introspective and the universal, using rock and alternative pop as our main vehicle.”
Basil is the artistic project of Colombian musician and songwriter Bryan Tapias, who studied at the Faculty of Arts ASAB of the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. With roots in Bogotá and currently based in Villavicencio, Basil combines indie and pop influences with a reflective and spiritual perspective.
With “No Me Lo Creo,” Basil begins a new chapter in Tapias’ career, introducing an alternative sound and multidisciplinary creative vision to Colombia’s independent music landscape.
