Singer-songwriter and actress Ava Ro is opening a more personal chapter of her artistry with her debut EP stranger on tv, a cinematic pop project that explores the complicated process of growing up, navigating change and figuring out who you are.
Across the EP, Ava draws from experiences with relationships, uncertainty, identity and the feeling of being watched or understood by others. Rather than presenting growing up as a straightforward journey, stranger on tv captures the messiness that comes with trying to understand yourself while everything around you continues to change.
The project moves through cinematic pop and indie-pop influences, creating a space where Ava can explore both the emotional and reflective sides of her songwriting. The songs offer a snapshot of where she is at this stage of her life, making the EP feel personal while leaving room for listeners to find their own experiences within its themes.
Ava’s perspective is also shaped by her unusual position as both an established screen performer and an emerging recording artist. Her career has already taken her across television, voice acting, live performance and music, giving her a creative background that extends well beyond a single discipline.
She currently stars as Erin, the title lead in Nickelodeon’s Erin & Aaron, and as Kyla in the international coming-of-age series Home Sweet Rome!. Her acting credits also include roles as Ella in Big Top Academy, Claudia in Holly Hobbie and Maya in Take Note.
Her voice has reached audiences in a different way through voice roles including Min in Dino Ranch, Kana in Thomas & Friends, Taylor Turbot in PAW Patrol and Remy in Remy & Boo.
Long before stranger on tv, Ava had already demonstrated her ability to command a stage. She was previously a member of Juno-nominated girl group GEN, formerly known as GFORCE, and also became a quarter-finalist on America’s Got Talent.
Her transition into releasing music under her own name began with the debut single “Sevent33n,” followed by “You Let Go.” Both releases generated strong fan response and received editorial playlist support, helping build momentum around Ava’s emergence as a solo recording artist.
That momentum quickly extended into her live career. Following the release of her early singles, Ava announced her two-show headlining debut, with both shows selling out within 48 hours of being announced.
In early 2026, she followed with “I Hate You, But You’re Mine,” another chapter in her development as a songwriter and recording artist. The release continued to demonstrate the creative direction that would eventually lead into stranger on tv. The EP now brings those different experiences together. Ava’s background as an actress naturally informs the cinematic quality of the project, while her experience as a musician allows her to approach the songs from a more intimate perspective.
There is also a clear connection between the EP’s title and its themes. The idea of feeling like a stranger while being seen by others reflects the uncertainty that can accompany growing up and trying to understand your own identity. Ava uses the project to explore what it means to change, to be perceived and to work out who you are beyond the roles other people may associate with you.
With stranger on tv, Ava Ro is therefore introducing another side of an already multifaceted career. She is no longer only the actress audiences recognise from their screens or the voice behind familiar animated characters. She is also establishing herself as a songwriter with her own stories to tell.
The debut EP marks an important step in that evolution, allowing Ava to bring together her experiences across music, acting and performance into a project that feels distinctly her own.
As she continues developing her identity as a recording artist, stranger on tv offers a compelling introduction to Ava Ro’s musical world, one shaped by growing pains, emotional uncertainty, self-discovery and the constant process of becoming.
