Ghanaian Afrobeats artist, producer, and engineer Demmi is bringing the energy of a Ghanaian night out to his new single “Mini Skirt,” a high-energy party record featured on his newly released 10-track mixtape, Still Rolling.
Released through The Continent.Live, “Mini Skirt” captures the kind of moment that can quickly turn an ordinary night into a full-blown party. A girl catches your eye, she is dancing, everybody is outside and before long, the entire atmosphere has taken on a life of its own.
Built around Ghanaian and Pidgin street language, infectious repetition and a carefree nightlife feel, the song brings out a playful and youthful side of Demmi’s sound. Rather than focusing on heavy themes, “Mini Skirt” is centred on attraction, dancing and the spontaneous energy that comes with enjoying a night out.
The record fits naturally into Still Rolling, a 10-track mixtape that brings together different sides of Demmi’s musical identity. The project also features his previously released singles “Still Rolling,” “3X ZOOM,” and “Higher (New Virgil),” giving listeners a broader look at the direction he has been developing.
While “Mini Skirt” is firmly rooted in party energy, the wider project reflects Demmi’s ability to move between moods while staying connected to his Ghanaian background.
Born McDonald Otubuah, Demmi is from Kpong, Ghana, and has developed his artistry across multiple roles. As an artist, producer, and engineer, he is deeply involved in creating his music, recording, mixing, and mastering much of his own work.
His approach is shaped by raw storytelling and cultural nuance, with Demmi moving between English and local dialects to create Afropop that feels connected to his surroundings while remaining accessible to a wider audience. That background is particularly noticeable in “Mini Skirt,” where street language and repetition become part of the song’s appeal. The record does not overcomplicate its message. Instead, it embraces the simple excitement of seeing someone you like, getting caught up in the music and allowing the night to take over.
Demmi has already begun building a following around his distinctive approach. His breakout mixtape Hometown Hero has accumulated more than 250,000 streams, while his live résumé includes performances at Tidal Rave and Accravaganza, alongside his own headline show, Demville.
Those experiences have helped shape an artist who understands both the personal and communal sides of music. “Mini Skirt” leans strongly into the communal side, creating the kind of record that fits naturally into parties and social settings where the goal is simply to have a good time.
At the same time, the release adds another dimension to Demmi’s growing catalogue. His ability to handle his own recording and production gives him room to experiment with different sounds while keeping his music connected to his own perspective.
With Still Rolling, Demmi continues to build on that foundation. The 10-track mixtape brings together his already released material with new records such as “Mini Skirt,” creating a project that reflects his continued movement as an artist.
“Mini Skirt” ultimately captures Demmi at his most carefree. It is a record about attraction, movement and the infectious energy of a night where everyone is outside and the party refuses to slow down.
With Still Rolling now available, Demmi is continuing to establish his place within Ghana’s next wave of Afrobeats artists, combining his storytelling, cultural perspective and hands-on production skills as he pushes his sound forward.
