Emerging Czech singer-songwriter THERA is stepping into a darker and more confident chapter with her new single “heartless romance,” an upbeat pop record that combines seductive energy with a sharper sense of self-assurance.
Released on September 18, the single quickly picked up editorial attention, landing on Spotify’s New Music Friday CZ & SK and Apple Music’s New Music Daily. Co-written and produced by JAKKE ERIXSON, whose credits include Charli XCX, Ava Max and David Guetta, “heartless romance” marks the first release from THERA’s forthcoming sophomore album, scheduled for early 2027.
The new single has been described as THERA’s strongest release to date, reflecting the growth of an artist who has continued to develop her sound and presence since emerging onto the European music scene.
At the heart of “heartless romance” is a shift in attitude. While the song remains rooted in pop, its darker and more seductive character gives THERA room to explore a more confident side of her artistry. The result is a record that feels energetic while carrying a distinct edge, signalling a new direction as she begins the rollout toward her second album.
THERA first introduced herself to a wider audience with her debut album I Wish I Called, released in September 2024 when she was just 19 years old. The project established her as an emotionally driven songwriter capable of turning personal feelings into songs that connect with listeners.
Her sound brings together pop, rock, and electronic influences, creating a style that allows her to move between emotional songwriting and more theatrical forms of expression. That combination has helped her build an audience beyond her home country, with her debut album surpassing one million streams.
Songs including “stain,” “DLTTI” and the viral “guardian angel” have further expanded her reach, gaining attention across streaming platforms and TikTok. The response has positioned THERA as one of the young Czech artists increasingly attracting international attention.
Her career also received an early international boost after she was discovered by UK-based management team Sounds Inc. She subsequently began working with established songwriters, including Grammy-winning writers Steve Diamond and Jeff Cohen, further expanding the creative network around her music.
Live performance has become another important part of THERA’s artistic identity. In March 2025, she announced a sold-out European tour supporting Swedish pop star Loreen, giving her the opportunity to bring her theatrical approach to larger audiences across Europe.
Those performances have reinforced the qualities that have helped distinguish THERA from many emerging artists. Her music is emotionally direct, but her stage presence adds another layer, allowing her songs to become part of a larger visual and performance experience.
Her growing international profile was further recognised in September 2025 when she was named The First Global EQUAL Ambassador, a role that reflected both her rising influence and her commitment to empowering underrepresented voices within music.
“heartless romance” now opens the next chapter of that journey. Rather than simply following the sound of her debut, THERA is using the new single to introduce a more assured version of herself, combining pop accessibility with darker textures and a more confident attitude.
With a sophomore album already on the horizon for early 2027, the single offers an early indication of where THERA is heading next. She has already established herself through emotionally charged songwriting, a growing international audience and a commanding live presence. “heartless romance” suggests she is now ready to push that identity further.
For THERA, the road from her 2024 debut to her latest release has been one of rapid growth. With editorial support arriving immediately, an expanding international profile and a second album taking shape, “heartless romance” represents another significant step for an artist continuing to carve out her own space in contemporary pop.
