Rising Ghanaian artist RichMaaryo has officially released his new six-track EP, Architect, a project that introduces listeners to an artist building his musical identity around ambition, struggle, love, faith, and the determination to create a better future.
Released via MADVYBZ RECORDS, Architect moves across Afro-fusion, Street-pop, Afrobeats, Afro-dancehall and Trap, allowing RichMaaryo to explore different sides of his artistry while maintaining the honest storytelling that runs throughout the project.
The EP opens with “Off the Radar,” a gritty Afro-fusion and Street-pop record about the realities of chasing success while dealing with pressure, fear, and uncertainty. Built around the infectious “Ratatatata” refrain, the song captures the chaos surrounding the hustle, while its repeated “me can’t stop” message becomes a declaration of resilience.
Beneath the street energy, however, is a more personal story. RichMaaryo reflects on sleepless nights, feeling unheard and working far from home while remaining “off the radar” in pursuit of a better life. His message to his parents not to worry adds an emotional dimension to the record, while the idea of becoming a “proud winner” transforms the song from a story of struggle into one of hope.
The project then shifts into romance with “Sapa,” an energetic Afrobeat record built around attraction, companionship, and the excitement of finding someone who makes loneliness disappear. RichMaaryo blends Ghanaian Pidgin, Twi and Nigerian expressions into a playful love song filled with catchy melodies and a strong sing-along quality.
“Relationship” takes that romantic theme into more vulnerable territory. The Afro-fusion record explores the pain of watching a relationship fall apart and the difficulty of accepting that someone you love may be walking away. RichMaaryo balances his streetwise confidence with emotional honesty, revealing the hurt beneath the tough exterior while bringing faith into the conversation through the belief that some things are ultimately sustained by God.
On “Going for the Prize,” the focus shifts back to ambition. The Afro-dancehall and Trap record is driven by a hunger for financial freedom and the determination to escape stagnation. References to dollars, Mansa Musa, Benjamin, kwacha, and the bank book reinforce the song’s fixation on wealth, while his Ashongman roots provide a grounding contrast to his aspirations for wider recognition.
“Te Amo” offers another romantic moment, this time through a soulful Afro-fusion lens. Moving between Ghanaian and Nigerian Pidgin, Yoruba, Twi and Spanish, RichMaaryo presents love as something that must survive difficult seasons. The narrator reassures his partner that although life may not yet match his promises, the ambition to build a better future remains intact.
The EP closes with “Trap Life,” arguably one of its most introspective moments. The Afro-trap record examines the reality of growing up with limited opportunities and the complicated relationship between survival and ambition. RichMaaryo questions whether the life he has been pushed into will eventually lead to freedom or become another form of confinement.
The recurring question, “Would it save me or not?” captures the uncertainty at the heart of the song. References to God and Jah add a spiritual dimension to the struggle, while memories of childhood dreams of becoming a doctor or a baller highlight the distance between youthful ambition and the realities of adulthood.
Taken as a whole, Architect feels like a portrait of an artist trying to construct something meaningful from his experiences.
