Ghanaian singer Moliy has made history at the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards, becoming the first Ghanaian artist to win an award at the regional ceremony.
The singer took home the Dancehall Song of the Year award for her global hit ‘Shake It to the Max (Fly) Remix,’ featuring Jamaican dancehall stars Shenseea and Skillibeng, with production from Silent Addy. The award was presented on Saturday, September 19, 2026, during the fourth edition of the Caribbean Music Awards at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
This year’s ceremony marked the first time the Caribbean Music Awards were staged in the Caribbean, following previous editions held in Brooklyn, New York. Moliy’s win adds another major achievement to the remarkable international run of ‘Shake It to the Max (Fly) Remix,’ which has continued to connect Ghanaian Afropop with Jamaica’s dancehall culture.
The winning record entered the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards with significant recognition, earning three nominations tied to the song, including Dancehall Song of the Year, Dancehall Collaboration of the Year and Dancehall Video of the Year.
The collaboration brings together Moliy’s Ghanaian musical identity with the distinctive dancehall styles of Shenseea and Skillibeng, while Silent Addy’s production helped shape the track’s infectious crossover sound.
‘Shake It to the Max (Fly)’ began its journey with Moliy and producer Silent Addy before the remix expanded the song’s reach with the addition of Shenseea and Skillibeng. The remix was released in February 2025 and went on to gain traction across social media, streaming platforms, and international radio. It subsequently appeared on international charts, including the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and the UK Singles Chart.
The song’s international momentum continued into 2026 when the remix earned Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The certification was issued on February 23, 2026, after the song surpassed 500,000 certified units in the United States, combining sales and streaming equivalents. The record has also added to Moliy’s awards run in Ghana, having previously won Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
With her Caribbean Music Awards victory, Moliy now adds another international milestone to a song that has taken her sound far beyond Ghana. Her historic win also further highlights the growing musical exchange between Africa and the Caribbean, with ‘Shake It to the Max (Fly) Remix’ serving as a notable Ghana-Jamaica collaboration that has resonated with audiences across both regions.
