Apple Music has opened Apple Music Hall, a new state-of-the-art live music venue at London’s iconic Battersea Power Station, creating a new space designed to bring artists and fans closer together through intimate, high-production live performances.
Located alongside the River Thames, the 600-capacity venue combines the character of Battersea Power Station with advanced production, recording and broadcast technology, giving artists an environment designed specifically for live music.
According to Apple, the venue is intended to bridge the gap between the intimacy of a small concert and the production capabilities normally associated with much larger venues.
“Today, with the opening of Apple Music Hall, we are once again taking an unprecedented step further in our commitment to artists and fans by supporting live music in ways only Apple can do,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and International Content.
A New Live Music Experience
Apple Music Hall draws inspiration from the architecture and heritage of Battersea Power Station, incorporating features including heritage brickwork, fluted arches and bronze balconies reminiscent of the building’s historic windows.
A large glass wall also provides views across the concourse and towards the River Thames, adding to the venue’s connection with its surroundings.
The 600-capacity space has been designed so that audiences remain close to the performer while artists have access to professional-level production infrastructure.
Its 38-foot-wide stage can be configured for traditional front-facing concerts or more intimate in-the-round performances, giving artists greater flexibility over how they present their shows.
The venue is also equipped with a 48-speaker spatial sound system positioned around the audience. When performances are produced in Spatial Audio, fans can experience the music through an immersive sound environment.
Live Shows Can Become Full Productions
Beyond its audience-facing setup, Apple Music Hall operates as a complete production facility.
The venue features two dedicated recording and mixing studios built to professional standards, allowing performances to be captured as multitrack recordings and mixed in Spatial Audio either during or after the show.
It is also equipped to support 16 or more cameras, feeding into a dedicated broadcast control room. The infrastructure allows iPhone video capture to operate alongside traditional broadcast cameras.
That means a single performance at Apple Music Hall can potentially produce an intimate concert experience for fans in the venue, a finished Spatial Audio recording, a broadcast-ready mix and multicamera video.
Apple also says performances from the venue will be livestreamed globally, allowing fans outside London to experience special live shows from their favourite artists.
Apple Music Deepens Its Connection With Artists
Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director and lead anchor for Apple Music 1, highlighted the company’s focus on creating new ways for artists and audiences to connect.
“At Apple Music, we care deeply about music, the artists who make it, and their life stories,” Lowe said. “We’re always looking for new opportunities to connect the artists and the fans because we are fans.”
He described Apple Music Hall as a space where artists can perform in an intimate setting while their performances can also be shared with audiences around the world.

New Apple Music Radio Studios Also Open in London
Alongside the launch of Apple Music Hall, Apple has also announced the opening of new Apple Music Radio studios at Battersea Power Station.
All of Apple Music Radio’s London-based hosts and shows will now broadcast live from the new studios, further establishing Battersea as an important base for Apple’s music operations in the UK.
With its combination of live performance, Spatial Audio, professional recording, broadcast capabilities, and global livestreaming, Apple Music Hall marks a significant expansion of Apple Music’s presence in London’s live music ecosystem.
