Ghanaian Afrobeats star and lifelong Chelsea supporter King Promise has teamed up with Chelsea Football Club to release “Can’t Tame Us (Chelsea Anthem),” a new track celebrating the passion, culture and community of Chelsea supporters across Africa.
The collaboration brings together two powerful forces that continue to connect people across the continent: football and music. Built around Afrobeats, the new anthem serves as a tribute to Chelsea fans and the deep connection they have developed with the club over the years.
For King Promise, the collaboration also carries a personal significance. A lifelong Chelsea supporter, the Ghanaian artist brings his own connection to the club into a project designed to celebrate the wider African Blues community.
“Can’t Tame Us (Chelsea Anthem)” forms part of Chelsea’s London to the World approach to culture, which seeks to find new ways of celebrating the communities that make up the club’s global family. The project places supporters at the centre of the story, continuing the spirit of Chelsea’s recent cultural work in Brazil, where the club has supported community football initiatives including the creation of football courts.
The new anthem first made its debut during a Chelsea matchday earlier this month and will continue to feature at fixtures throughout the season. Following the track’s release, its accompanying music video will premiere on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, bringing the story back to Ghana. Filmed across two locations in Accra, the video captures the relationship between football, music and community through King Promise’s own connection to the game.
One of the locations is the Rent Paid Football Exhibition Tournament, where King Promise hosted a football tournament for Chelsea supporters, bringing together supporter clubs from across Ghana. The tournament provided a meeting point for different generations of fans united by their support for the Blues.
The second location is Nungua SDA Park, the football ground where King Promise grew up playing the game. Directed by Derrick Arthur, the video uses these locations to showcase the friendships, supporter communities and shared experiences that have grown around Chelsea in Ghana.
The Rent Paid initiative also reflects King Promise’s commitment to combining sport, community and social impact. Founded by the artist, Rent Paid is built around the belief that people owe it to themselves to “pay rent” to their bodies through exercise, community and culture.
Each Rent Paid activation also supports the Nungua Orphanage in King Promise’s hometown through charitable donations and community support for children aged 16 and under.
Speaking about the collaboration, King Promise said: “Chelsea has always had a strong connection with fans across Africa, and we wanted one of their own to celebrate that connection. As a lifelong Chelsea fan, this project means a lot to me. Football and music have always brought people together, and I wanted the track to capture the pride, energy and passion that Chelsea fans across Africa have for the club.”
Chelsea Football Club Brand Director Scott Fenton also highlighted the personal connection behind the collaboration. “King Promise came to us with the idea for the track and, knowing how much Chelsea means to him, it felt like a really natural collaboration. This is about celebrating our fans in Africa and the culture around the club, and showing what Chelsea can mean beyond the 90 minutes. Music is such a powerful way to bring people together, and this is a brilliant example of that.”
“Can’t Tame Us (Chelsea Anthem)” is now available on major streaming platforms, giving Chelsea supporters across Africa a new soundtrack for their connection with the club.
The accompanying music video premieres on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, extending the collaboration from the football stadium into the communities that continue to make Chelsea part of their everyday lives.
For King Promise, the release adds another dimension to his career beyond music, connecting his identity as an artist and lifelong Chelsea supporter with his wider interest in football, community and culture.
