Global music icon JAŸ-Z is set to take centre stage at the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show, with Apple Music, the NFL and Roc Nation announcing the rapper as the featured performer for the February 14, 2027 event at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
The performance will air on ESPN, ABC, and Disney+, with mobile viewers able to watch through NFL+. Spanish-language coverage will also be available through ESPN Deportes and Disney+, alongside a separate Spanish-language presentation on Univision.
The announcement marks a significant moment in JAŸ-Z’s celebrated career, bringing the rapper, songwriter and entrepreneur to one of the world’s biggest live entertainment stages. Known for his influence across music, business, and philanthropy, he has earned 25 GRAMMY Awards and four Emmy Awards. He also became the first hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
The upcoming halftime appearance arrives during a milestone period for the artist. Throughout 2026, JAŸ-Z has been celebrating the 30th anniversary of his landmark debut album, Reasonable Doubt, through an initiative known as JAŸ-Z 30. The year-long celebration has featured immersive experiences, exclusive limited-edition products and a series of major live performances.
Among the highlights were three sold-out concerts at Yankee Stadium, alongside sold-out shows in London, Paris and Los Angeles. The Super Bowl appearance will extend that anniversary celebration, connecting three decades of musical influence with a performance watched by audiences around the world.
“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,” JAŸ-Z said. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also welcomed the announcement, reflecting on the league’s longstanding partnership with Roc Nation and his hope that JAŸ-Z would eventually perform at the event himself.
“For several years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with JAŸ-Z and Roc Nation, and I’ve seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show,” Goodell said. He added that when the NFL first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, he had asked that JAŸ-Z take the stage when the moment felt right.
“I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage,” the commissioner said.
Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Music and International Content, also praised the rapper’s influence and his contribution to the halftime show’s evolution. He noted that Apple Music has worked closely with JAŸ-Z and Roc Nation in recent years to bring prominent artists to the Super Bowl stage, expressing excitement about seeing him perform at the event.
Following the announcement, Apple Music Radio presenters Zane Lowe, Eddie Francis and Brooke Reese are scheduled to discuss the news on air. Fans can also visit JAŸ-Z’s Road to Halftime on Apple Music for exclusive content, programming throughout the NFL season and experiences developed in partnership with the league.
The halftime show will be executive produced by Roc Nation, with Hamish Hamilton serving as director. Roc Nation will also continue in its role as the NFL’s strategic entertainment adviser for the live performance.
Apple Music’s multiyear partnership with the NFL and Roc Nation brings the streaming service’s commitment to music and artists to the Super Bowl’s high-profile halftime production. The show has become a major platform for performances that reach audiences far beyond the stadium.
Recent editions have also achieved significant recognition from the television industry. The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show starring Bad Bunny earned seven Emmy Awards, making it the most Emmy-awarded halftime show to date. Kendrick Lamar’s performance at Super Bowl LIX became the most-watched halftime show, earning four Emmy nominations and winning Outstanding Music Direction.
Earlier performances have also received widespread industry recognition. Usher’s Super Bowl LVIII show earned three Emmy nominations, while Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII performance received five nominations and won two awards, including Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. The Super Bowl LVI show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar won three Emmys, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live), a first for the halftime production.
With JAŸ-Z confirmed for Super Bowl LXI, the next edition will add another chapter to the event’s history, bringing together a defining figure in hip-hop and a global sporting spectacle for a performance shaped by three decades of music and cultural influence.
