Actress, singer and DJ Lauren Akosia has earned recognition on two international platforms, receiving nominations at the Ghana Music Awards UK and the Ghana Music Awards USA. The achievement adds to the growing profile of the Mr Loverman (BBC One) star as she continues to make strides in electronic music and Afro-house.

Akosia is nominated for UK-Based New Artiste of the Year at the 2026 Ghana Music Awards UK, following her nomination for Best International Act at the Ghana Music Awards USA. The recognition comes after the growing attention surrounding her collaborative single “Let It Go.”

Born in London and trained at Mountview, Akosia has developed a career that spans acting, music production and DJing. While she has gained screen recognition through her acting work, she is increasingly establishing herself as an independent musical talent, bringing together her creative instincts and passion for electronic sounds.

Her music blends deep electronic rhythms with elements of South African Afro-house, incorporating distinctive beats and layered vocals. Drawing on her background in acting, Akosia brings a storytelling sensibility to her music while developing a sound that reflects her identity as a multi-talented performer.

She recently released “It’s Time,” a standalone electronic track built around an uplifting message. With its expansive production, rich vocal arrangements and motivational theme, the song further showcases her direction as an artist and her ability to combine meaningful expression with electronic music.

Akosia’s latest award nominations highlight her growing visibility across the UK and US Ghanaian music communities. By working across acting, recording and DJ performance, she continues to expand her reach beyond a single creative discipline and build an international presence on her own terms.

With voting for the 2026 Ghana Music Awards UK set to close on Tuesday, October 20, at 11:59 p.m. BST, fans and supporters have a final opportunity to back Akosia in the UK-Based New Artiste of the Year category.

Votes can be cast through the official awards website: http://www.gmauk.co.uk/
