Emerging Ghanaian gospel musician Prince Kwadwo Sarfo is stepping further into the gospel music space with his latest release, “This Is Zion,” a spiritually inspired song that was birthed through prayer and what he describes as a divine instruction.
Born in Goaso in the late 1990s and hailing from Ghana’s Central Region, Kwadwo Sarfo brings an unconventional professional background to his growing music ministry. A full-time chemist with the Ghana Standards Authority, he continues to pursue his passion for gospel music, worship and Christian ministry alongside his professional career.
“This Is Zion” carries a deeply personal story behind its creation. The song was conceived during a prayer meeting led by Rev. Benhardt Ofosuapea, where Sarfo received an instruction to write a song centred on Zion.
According to Sarfo, the inspiration followed a moment when Rev. Ofosuapea noticed the word “Zion” boldly displayed at the entrance of the church and encouraged him to respond to the spiritual prompting by immediately creating a song around it.
Sarfo took the instruction into prayer, and within minutes, the lyrics and melody began to come together. What began as a spontaneous response to a moment of worship eventually developed into a complete gospel project.
For Sarfo, “This Is Zion” is therefore more than a new song. It represents obedience, prayer and worship, while serving as a personal testimony of his faith and his belief in God’s ability to create something meaningful from unexpected moments.
The song centres on Zion as a place associated with divine encounter, worship, identity and communion with God. Through its message, Sarfo hopes to encourage listeners to become more conscious of God’s presence and to seek a deeper relationship with Him.
Although still establishing himself within Ghana’s gospel music landscape, Sarfo has already released an original song and a collection of gospel medleys. His ministry also extends beyond recorded music through two annual worship and spiritual gatherings: “Glory in His Presence” in Accra and the “Give Us You Conference” in Kumasi.
These initiatives reflect the broader direction of Sarfo’s ministry, which places worship, prayer and spiritual connection at the centre of his creative work.
Balancing his career as a chemist with his growing calling as a gospel musician, Kwadwo Sarfo represents an emerging generation of Ghanaian gospel voices approaching music as an extension of their faith and ministry.
With “This Is Zion,” he invites listeners into the story behind a song that began in prayer and developed into a testimony, offering a reminder that some musical moments are born not in the studio, but in the place of worship.
