Ghanaian singer and songwriter Gyakie has reached another major career milestone, becoming the first female Ghanaian artiste to surpass 100 million streams on Boomplay.

The achievement saw the “Forever” hitmaker join Boomplay’s Golden Club, a group reserved for artistes who have reached or surpassed the 100 million-stream mark on the streaming platform.

Gyakie’s milestone places her among a growing list of Ghanaian artistes who have crossed the significant streaming threshold, including Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Camidoh and KiDi. Black Sherif was the first Ghanaian artiste to reach 100 million streams on Boomplay in 2022.

For Gyakie, the achievement represents the continued growth of a career that has been driven by a combination of Afrobeats, Afro-fusion, R&B and other influences.

The singer, widely known as the Song Bird, first entered the music scene in 2019 with “Love Is Pretty” before gaining wider attention with songs including “Never Like This” and her breakout hit “Forever.”

She has since released projects including the SEED EP and MY DIARY, while building a catalogue that includes songs such as “Something,” “Need Me,” “Scar” and “Rent Free.”

Reacting to the 100 million-stream achievement, Gyakie expressed gratitude to Boomplay and her fans, highlighting that the milestone had been achieved without an album at the time.

The accomplishment also reflected the growing reach of her music beyond Ghana, with her work connecting with listeners across Africa and international markets.

Gyakie’s entry into Boomplay’s Golden Club adds another significant streaming achievement to her career and further establishes her among Ghana’s leading female voices in contemporary African music.
