Ghanaian singer-songwriter Kay Kamz has received three nominations at the 2026 Emerit Music Awards, earning recognition in the categories of Discover Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, and Artist of the Year.

The triple nomination adds another important achievement to Kay Kamz’s growing career and further highlights her emergence as one of the promising voices within Ghana’s contemporary Afro music scene.

Born Kate Addai Mununkum in Amsterdam to Ghanaian parents, Kay Kamz draws from both her Ghanaian heritage and European upbringing to shape her musical identity. Her sound brings together elements of Afrobeats, Highlife, Afropop and Afro-soul, with expressive vocals and songwriting centred on love, personal development and human connection.

Kay Kamz formally introduced herself to audiences with her debut EP, “The Love Partner,” released in April 2022. Since then, she has continued developing her sound and artistic identity, releasing “The Way You Love Me” in 2025 before returning earlier this year with “Hate on Me.” Each release has offered another glimpse into her evolving approach to Afro-inspired music and emotionally driven storytelling.

Reflecting on her Emerit Music Awards nominations, Kay Kamz described the recognition as a meaningful affirmation of her individuality as an artist.

“The sound you hear is me. What I bring on board is me and tweaks from the people around me. I am not only blessed but also favoured that my sound appeals to the mass. I am honoured to be part of the awards and to be nominated in these categories. I can’t wait to see what the future looks like.”

She also expressed appreciation to the people who have contributed to her journey, extending a special thank you to her team, the Emerit Music Awards and its board of directors.

The Emerit Music Awards continues to provide a platform for emerging Ghanaian musicians and creatives, recognising artists making meaningful contributions across different areas of the country’s music industry.

For Kay Kamz, appearing in three categories at this year’s ceremony represents more than recognition for her existing work. It signals growing interest in an artist whose multicultural background, Afro-inspired sound and personal songwriting continue to shape her place in Ghana’s evolving music landscape.

With three opportunities to take home an award, Kay Kamz enters the 2026 Emerit Music Awards with momentum behind her and another opportunity to introduce her artistry to an even wider audience.
