Ghanaian singer and songwriter Gyakie has taken the top spot among Ghanaian artistes on Spotify for August 2026, recording an impressive 28.14 million global streams across all credits.

The latest figures, shared by Chart Ghana on X, show a dramatic jump in Gyakie’s monthly performance. The singer recorded approximately 11.5 million global streams in July, meaning her August total represents a 145% increase and marks one of the strongest monthly streaming performances of her career.

The surge has propelled Gyakie to No. 1 among Ghanaian artistes on Spotify for the month, ending MOLIY’s run at the top of the platform’s monthly rankings. MOLIY had led the rankings throughout the first seven months of 2026 before Gyakie’s significant August increase changed the order.

Gyakie’s latest achievement reflects the continued strength of her catalogue and the growing audience for her music outside Ghana. With listeners across international markets contributing to her numbers, the milestone further highlights her ability to connect with audiences beyond the country’s borders.

The timing also adds another significant achievement to what has already been an important period for Gyakie. Her 2025 album ‘After Midnight’ recently celebrated its first anniversary, with the 17-track project continuing to generate millions of streams and expanding her profile through collaborations with artists including 6LACK, Shatta Wale, Omar Sterling, Headie One, Young Jonn and Kojey Radical.

Her Spotify performance also points to the growing impact of her work with FlipTheMusic, as the team continues to develop her catalogue and push her music into different territories. The August numbers provide another indication that Gyakie’s audience is becoming increasingly international.

Beyond the headline figure of 28.14 million streams, the scale of the month-on-month growth is perhaps the most striking part of the achievement. Moving from 11.5 million streams in July to more than 28 million in August represents a substantial acceleration and places Gyakie firmly at the centre of Ghana’s current streaming conversation.

The milestone further strengthens her position as one of Ghana’s leading contemporary music exports. Her ability to combine Afrobeats with melodic songwriting and a distinctive vocal identity has helped her build a catalogue that continues to attract listeners across different markets.

With August now delivering her biggest monthly Spotify performance in the rankings, Gyakie heads into the remainder of 2026 with significant momentum. The latest numbers suggest that her international reach continues to grow, while her place among Ghana’s most influential female artistes becomes increasingly difficult to overlook.
