UK-based Nigerian artist Gabstabanj has released his latest Afrobeats single “FORMULA,” a vibrant record that showcases his unique ability to merge African rhythms, global sounds, and personal storytelling into a refreshing musical experience.
Built around infectious grooves and the energy of contemporary Afrobeats, “FORMULA” highlights Gabstabanj’s creative approach to music, combining elements of Nigerian traditional rhythms with influences from highlife, jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop. The result is a sound that feels rooted in heritage while embracing the global evolution of African music.
Born Gabi and raised in Obadina, Lagos, Gabstabanj’s journey has taken him across continents and cultures. Now based in Newcastle, with significant time spent in Birmingham, his multicultural experiences have played a major role in shaping his artistic identity and musical direction.
Although music has always been his passion, Gabstabanj fully committed to his creative journey after relocating to the UK. During his 20s, he explored music production while also pursuing grassroots football, becoming a certified Level 1 coach. His time in Birmingham introduced him to the growing worldwide influence of Afrobeats, inspiring him to dedicate himself fully to the genre in 2016.
Gabstabanj later expanded his musical vision through the formation of the duo 2Bliss alongside fellow artist Mikado, further developing his versatility and creative expression. Throughout his career, he has also collaborated with Nigerian music veteran Bigiano, known for the hit “Shayo.”
