On March 6, in celebration of Ghana Independence Day, Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie made history by selling out the 5,300-capacity Royal Albert Hall in London for the debut edition of Rapperholic UK. This milestone places Sarkodie among a select group of global artists, including Jay-Z and Adele, to headline the iconic venue.
The electrifying night featured an array of top-tier performers bridging the Ghanaian and UK music scenes. British rap heavyweights Stormzy and Headie One shared the stage with Ghanaian stars, including Efya—who received a standing ovation after announcing her pregnancy—King Promise, KiDi, and Lasmid. The evening also saw Sarkodie pay a heartfelt tribute to legendary Ghanaian artist Daddy Lumba, honoring his influence on the country’s music landscape.
Midway through the performance, Sarkodie announced that Rapperholic UK will return on March 6, 2027, this time at London’s The O2, a 20,000-capacity venue. If successful, this would mark a historic first: a continent-based African rapper headlining one of the UK’s largest arenas.
The sold-out Royal Albert Hall show solidifies Sarkodie’s place as a global ambassador for African hip-hop. With the Rapperholic UK 2027 announcement, fans worldwide can expect an even bigger celebration of Ghanaian music and culture in the years to come.
