Illinois-based performance artist Taquirah delivers a heartfelt and inspiring Tiny Desk Audition with her new track Grateful (Tiny Desk Audition). The song is a celebration of resilience, offering hope to those who have faced depression or suicidal thoughts, and honoring anyone who has supported loved ones through such challenges.
Produced in collaboration with Daru Jones, known for his work with Jack White, Clipse, and John B, and Brixco, a multi-talented singer, rapper, producer, and instrumentalist, “Grateful” combines rich instrumentation with Taquirah’s emotive vocals. Brixco contributes trumpet, drums, and piano, creating a layered and soulful soundscape.
Drawing from jazz, blues, gospel, R&B, neo-soul, pop, and jazz dance, Taquirah uses “Grateful” as both a personal testimony and an uplifting anthem. The track is a reminder that overcoming life’s toughest moments is possible, and it stands as a testament to the power of music and storytelling in fostering hope and healing.
