Meet the Winners of the Purposed for Destiny Worshippers Showcase

Destiny Worshippers Showcase
Destiny Worshippers Showcase

Purposed for Destiny Ministry in McKinney, Texas, hosted its Purposed for Destiny Worshippers Showcase, a Spirit-led celebration of Kingdom talent that drew vocalists, gospel rappers, praise dancers, spoken word poets, instrumentalists, mimes, and choirs from across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Free and open to the public, the event ran from 1 PM to 4 PM at 600 Wilson Creek Parkway, McKinney, TX 75069, and awarded three cash prizes to its top performers.

Hosted by LaTisha Johnson and Rolanda Macharia, and judged by Pastor Armon Johnson, James Macharia, and Pastor Kristen Gray, the showcase was more than a competition it was a moment. Here are the three artists who rose to the top.

1st Place Maya Burns | Vocalist

Song: “Encourage Yourself”

Maya Burns took the top prize with a vocal ministration that clearly resonated deeply with everyone in the room. Ministering through “Encourage Yourself,” Burns delivered a message as timely as it was powerful a reminder that even in the hardest seasons, the spirit can rise. Her voice and her conviction made her the standout of the afternoon.
Burns is no stranger to excellence. A McKinney native and University of North Texas alumnus, she has been sharpening her gifts for years, previously recognized among a select group of young achievers at a national academy whose commencement featured the likes of Kelly Rowland, Mali Music, and Kierra Sheard. The stage at the Purposed for Destiny Worshippers Showcase was simply the latest in a life marked by purpose.

2nd Place B’KEM | Gospel Rapper & Vocalist

Songs: “Nothing Else,” “Resurrection,” and “King”

From the moment he arrived, B’KEM made clear that he was not there to compete. He was there to minister to God’s people.
When he was introduced to the audience, B’KEM walked up and said exactly what was on his heart: “The only name that matters to me is Jesus.” The room knew immediately what kind of artist they were about to witness.

Multi-award-winning American-Nigerian artist B’KEM brought a full ministry experience to the McKinney stage. Ministering through three songs, “Nothing Else,” “Resurrection,” and “King,” he showcased the depth and range that has made him one of the more compelling voices in gospel rap today. His set was less performance and more proclamation.
B’KEM is known for his refusal to take the easy road in hip-hop. Where many artists lean on shock value, he leans on scripture and story. He made history as the first African American male to grace the Colors Of Love platform, and his recent album “Take” has drawn listeners from both the United States and Africa.
“The only name that matters to me is Jesus.”

3rd Place Anastia Leyon | Vocalist

Song: “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”

Anastia Leyon, a worshipper from Family Praise Tabernacle, closed out the winners’ circle with a rendition of the beloved hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” a song that has anchored the faith of generations. Her ministration brought the timeless quality of the classic to life in a fresh way, leaving the audience with a sense of reverence and gratitude. Beyond worship, Leyon is also the founder of ENVE34, a women’s wellness brand empowering women to thrive in mind, body, and community.

A Night for the Kingdom

The evening also featured a special guest appearance by Clear Lanes, a gospel rap artist and actor who ministered in his own segment, adding another powerful synergy to an already Spirit-filled afternoon.

The Purposed for Destiny Worshippers Showcase was a testament to the wealth of anointed talent present in the Dallas-Fort Worth community and beyond. Purposed for Destiny Ministry created a space where artists could compete, yes, but more importantly, where they could minister. Every winner and every participant left having done exactly that.
